Jess - You are so talented! May I ask what kind of camera and lens you used to capture these amazing photographs? Particularly the black and white tram photograph and the girl on the bike. Seriously love love love your work! <3

Melanie - Thanks Jess!! I use a Canon 5D mark ii and on this trip, I tended to shoot with the 100mm f/2.8L (macro) and 24-105mm f/4L. I used a 50mm at night since it’s better in low light.

Springtime in Golden Gate Park

In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” ~ John Muir

While it’s not officially Spring here in the US, there are many signs that it’s not far off.

Below are recent images taken in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

Sea and Sky

”I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by.”   ~ John Masefield

Of late, I’ve been drawn to the coast – the beauty of massive ocean expanses and the powerful waves, the soothing pulse of the surf as it meets the shore.  Here are some images taken along the Santa Cruz coastline in California.

Kelly - beautiful, as usual.

Karen - Makes me wish I was there . . . can hear the waves crashing in your photos.
Nicely done.

Melanie - Thanks! :-)

August Break

I’ve been MIA on the blog for most of the year and can’t believe it’s already August.  This year has flown by with its share of ups and downs.  To celebrate summer, here are some images from the past few months.  Also, I’m participating in Susannah Conway’s August Break.  Join in the fun and post photos to Flickr this month.

Karen - Great pics, Melanie!
Where are some of these taken?

Melanie - Thanks Karen! The beach photographs are from Inverness, CA and New Buffalo, MI. The rustic barn is in Strawberry, CA.

Kelly - The one with the sea grass is my favorite. Love the texture and the contrast of the sky and sand.
